“ Raja Café in Khajuraho is a legendary spot that’s been around for almost five decades. Back in 1978, when Khajuraho was still a quiet, laid-back town just beginning to catch the attention of travelers, the opening of Raja Café added a fresh buzz. Over time, it became almost as inseparable from Khajuraho as its world-famous temples. Founded by two sisters from Calcutta, Betty Bohnenblust and Joy Judah, Raja Café was never imagined as something that would reach iconic status. Yet, as the years passed, the café grew into a landmark in its own right, loved by travelers from across the globe. The café was purchased by the sisters from the gracious Maharaja of Chhatarpur, the former ruler of Khajuraho and a close family friend, which is how it got the name “Raja Café.” Its location is unbeatable—right across the road from the temples. With stunning temple views from its beautifully designed terrace, the café drew tourists from the very beginning. Known for its high-quality Continental and Indian food, inspired by the sisters’ excellent cooking skills, Raja Café quickly built a loyal following. That global reputation continues even today. At Raja Café, you can relax under a giant tree or sit on the first floor and soak in those epic temple views while you eat. We ordered Sweet Corn and Chicken Soup, Chicken Schnitzel, and Chicken Stroganoff with herbed rice. The stroganoff was creamy, comforting, and packed with tender chicken and mushrooms in a rich sour cream sauce. The schnitzel was flavorful but slightly dry for my liking, served with fries and toasted bread instead of mash and salad. The soup was simply delicious. With generous portions, good service, and an unbeatable location, Raja Café is a decent place to visit when you’re in Khajuraho. ”

“ I drank coffee here, ate waffles, and ate dal makhani with naan. I didn't like the taste at all. My bill seemed very expensive, and I didn't quite like the taste. I just found the ambiance a bit okay. Otherwise, I didn't find anything special. It felt like a waste of my money. I could have found better options for eating in Khajuraho. ”

“ Located just opposite the exit point for the Western group of Khajuraho temples. Went for both lunch and dinner. At first the prices seems a bit expensive, but the portion size is huge. Tried honey sesame chicken for starters and chicken pizza. Both were good. Huge and more than enough for 2 people. Also, had fresh lime soda, in which they provide a whole bottle for soda. For dinner, tried carbonara pasta. Again huge quantity, creamy and delicious. Chicken sizzler was also good. ”
